Transfer Answers
- Can I transfer my domain registration away from Network Solutions or other Registrars?
Yes! Network Solutions used to be the only Registrar where you could register a domain name.
Now that are many out there that actively compete each other to attract your business. Along
with other sweeping changes in the domain name business you are now able to transfer between
domain registrars. This can be accomplished through a Registration Service Provider like PSNI.

- How can I benefit if I transfer to OpenSRS/Tucows Registrar through PSNI?
Lower annual fees with better service!
PSNI has been hosting web sites since 1994. During that
time it has witnessed the explosive growth of the Internet. With that growth competition has created
opportunties to provide reliable services at lower prices due to the reduced overhead that is inherent
to the Internet. We at PSNI have been looking for a Registrar that has a solid business track record and
more so an excellent reputation in the Internet community. PSNI selected OpenSRS/Tucows as a Registrar
because they have been providing excellent service to the Internet community for years and provide the best
support to their Registration Service Providers at rates that beat Network Solutions.

- How much does it cost to transfer?
The cost to transfer your domain depends on whether you host with PSNI or elsewhere. See our
fee schedule here.

- What should I do before I attempt to transfer my domain?
- Review or research your domain record to insure your administration e-mail address is
up to date. This will be the primary communication method your present Registrar will use to verify
your transfer request. If your e-mail address is no longer valid or accessable you need to update
your admin contact record by whatever procedure your current Registrar has in place.
- Insure that your domain registration is not on hold for investigation. Any domain
that is held for investigation is not eligible for transfer until the hold is removed.
- Insure you have had your domain registered with your current Registrar
for at least 60 days.

You should expect the process to take up to two weeks.

- What if it will be some time before my current registration is due for renewal.?
Yes!
Example: If you have six months left on your current registration and you want to transfer to us
paying for one year of registration your current registration would be transferred to us and your
registration would expire in 18 months.
Example: If you have two weeks left on your current registration and you want to transfer to us
paying for one year of registration your current registration would be transferred to us and your
registration would expire in 12 months and two weeks.
The bottom line is we would add to whatever time you have left on your current registration.
